For individuals seeking creative ways to understand their life experiences more deeply, our workshops provide performance strategies that help you identify, explore, and transform your interpersonal relationships. We help you identify the points of intersection between your individual story and the larger collective and help you creatively engage the patterns, conflicts, and themes that appear. We do so through a series of activities that help you to explore, examine, and “rehearse” new possibilities for meaningful social interactions.
For community organizations invested in creating a more inclusive, representational, and supportive cultural climate both within their organization and beyond, Oleear partners with you to provide three different types of community-focused workshops: The first provides tools to empower communities to dismantle and creatively reconstruct their relationship to social systems. Our second set of workshops train organizations to use performance to engage in dialogue with community members, funders, policymakers, and other cultural institutions. The third facilitates dialogue within the organization in order to strengthen interpersonal interactions and resolve communication conflicts.
The modern workplace can be isolating, fast-paced, and stressful, which leads to communication breakdowns. Yet it is often the place, and the people with whom, we spend the most time. Through our three-step method we build bridges between the communication gaps that act as barriers to innovation and team-building. The first step utilizes personal narrative and oral history to identify the interpersonal and intercultural frictions that emerge in the workplace. The second step uses storytelling to create dialogue that allows team members to witness what others have to say, opening space for building empathy and connection. Finally, we facilitate activities that allow people from differing backgrounds to creatively engage communication barriers from multiple perspectives, imagine solutions, and construct new possibilities.
Thanks so much, Milene and Elisa for a really valuable and powerful workshop. How we and others define ourselves can be unspoken and assumed for years without checking back in to see if it's still valid or even helpful anymore. You helped me reflect on this and throw away some out of date stuff from my head and heart! (…)
