LISTEN
Our method utilizes personal narrative and oral history as a first step toward understanding the frictions that emerge in our interpersonal and intercultural relationships. Listening as a form of witnessing means more than hearing what another has to say. It is about being present—heart, body and mind—to another’s truth. It is about taking the time and providing the space for stories to be told without interruption or judgement. It is about building empathy.
ENGAGE
Through dialogue and storytelling, we facilitate engagement activities that allow people to see how their individual actions are guided by social scripts passed down to us by our environments. We make connections between our individual experiences and larger social systems that guide the ways we perform our identities; be they gender, race, nationality, or class.
CREATE
The creative process is hands-on problem solving. We use performance as a tool to facilitate workshops that guide participants to stage their experiences. Our workshops place you as storyteller, spectator, and interventionist in your own narrative. It is our belief that when our stories are projected in front of us, we see things differently. Only through the process of imagining different perspectives can we enact different outcomes.
